The Highlands County School Food Service program is non-profit and self-sustaining. Federal and state reimbursements and government commodities help to offset the cost of lunches for students. Lunch includes an entrée, up to 3 side items, and a choice of milk flavors.
Lunch prices at the Elementary Schools are $2.1. Free or reduced meals are available to eligible students. Students who received reduced meal benefits pay $.40 for lunches. A la Carte items are available and prices are set to encourage students to buy a lunch--the best nutritional buy.
No reimbursement is received for adult lunches, and prices are therefore slightly higher for adults. Adult lunch meals are $3.25.
