Welcome to Cracker Trail Elementary
Curriculum Information & Resources

Welcome to the Curriculum Information & Resources section of our website. This section is dedicated to providing quick links and clear information as to the standards and indicators for success in each grade level. Want to see something added to this section? E-mail the CTE Web Master.

At Cracker Trail, we will meet or exceed the Common Core Standards. The Common Core State Standards provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them. The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers.

During the school year, student progress is monitored throughout the year to ensure success. Some of the assessments that you may talk to your child's teacher about are:

  • FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Achievement Test)
  • Performance Matters baseline testing
  • Weekly/Chapter/Theme tests
  • FAIR (Florida Assessment in Reading)

District "On Grade-Level" Indicators
Grade level indicators are provided to teachers in Highlands County to support their decision in marking students ON grade level. If a student does not meet the minimum number of indicators in each of the areas, the teacher in conjunction with the school’s progress monitoring team will determine ON/OFF grade level status. At this time other indicators and performance on additional assessments may be considered by the group to make a final decision.
