erwinMrs. Danielle Erwin | Principal
Mrs. Danielle Erwin graduated with a Bachelor of Education- Interdisciplinary Studies from Western Governor’s University in 2006. She also received a M.S. Education Leadership from Western Governor’s University in 2012. Her professional career began as a paraprofessional at Sebring Middle School in November of 2006. After receiving her bachelor’s degree, she began teaching at Sebring Middle School. She taught Math, Science, Language Arts and Social Studies. She was the Curriculum Leadership Team representative for the Special Education Department, she was a dean and she led the School Attendance Review Committee. In 2013, Mrs. Erwin became the Assistant Principal at Avon Park High School until 2016. After the retirement of Mr. Williams in 2016, Mrs. Erwin took over as Principal. Mrs. Erwin is extremely proud to be a part of Avon Park High.

 

edsallMrs. Karen Edsall | Assistant Principal
Mrs. Karen Edsall began her teaching career at Zolfo Springs Elementary School as a third grade teacher in 1999 where she also attended school as a child. In 2006, she became an assistant principal at West Elementary School in Arcadia where she worked until becoming assistant principal at DeSoto High School in 2011. In 2013, Mrs. Edsall moved to Sebring and became the lead teacher for Highlands Career Institute at South Florida State College where she worked for 3 years until her recent appointment as assistant principal at Avon Park High School in 2016. Mrs. Edsall holds a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida.

 

rileyMrs. Kim Riley | Assistant Principal
Mrs. Kimberly Riley is proud to be a product of the Highlands County School system, having graduated from Lake Placid High School in 1994. Mrs. Riley received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Horticultural Sciences with a concentration in Agriculture Education from the University of Florida (1997 & 1999). She received a second Masters degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education (2016). She currently holds teacher certification in the areas of Educational Leadership, Middle Grades Science 5-9, Biology 9-12, and Agriculture 9-12. Before being chosen as an Assistant Principal at Avon Park High School, she taught Biology and IB Biology in all grade levels 9-12 for 14 years and served as as instructional coach at Sebring High School. As well, she currently serves as an adjunct instructor of agriculture at South Florida State College.

cornellMr. Whit Cornell
Mr. Whit Cornell has been investing his time in students and student-athletes since the turn of the millenium. He has taught ESE, Business, and Physical Education. Coach Cornell has coached baseball, football, cross country, and golf. He has served as a Teacher, Athletic Director, and Dean of Students. He is a 1997 graduate of Webber International University, where he was a member of the Warriors baseball team.

 

 

jacksonMr. Wade Jackson
Coach Wade Jackson has taught at APHS for 18 years.  He currently serves as the Dean of Students and Head Football Coach.  During his time at APHS he has taught Biology, Integrated Science, Earth Science, and Physical Science.  He has also been involved in many extracurricular activities as he has sponsored the Freshman Class, Sophomore Class, Junior Class, FBLA, and FCA.  He has been a Head JV Baseball and Football coach, Assistant Varsity Baseball and Football coach, Head Softball coach, and Girls Tennis Coach. Coach Jackson received his A.A. from South Florida State College, Bachelors in Education from Warner Southern College and holds a Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida.

 

whiddenMrs. Sherri Whidden | Testing Coordinator
Mrs. Sherri Whidden is a proud 1980 graduate of Avon Park High School.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education from Warner University in 1984.  After working many years at Avon Elementary she wanted to go back to college to pursue her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.  She graduated from University of South Florida with her Master’s degree in 1997.  Mrs. Whidden is no stranger to Avon Park High School because she was the Head Cheer Coach for 13 years during 1984-1997.   Before coming to Avon Park High School as a Dean and Testing Coordinator, she taught at Avon Elementary School for 28 years in mostly 1st grade, but some years she taught Kindergarten and 2nd grade.  She has also been an adjunct instructor at South Florida State College in the EPI program teaching classroom management.  Mrs. Whidden loves serving APHS being Head Cheer Coach again and also being a Student Government Advisor.
