Welcome to the School Board Website. We hope you will take an opportunity to attend some of our meetings, for we welcome your input. Citizen involvement is very crucial to the success of our public school system. May we all work together for the benefit of our children in Highlands County.
The School Board's regular meetings are held every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. The Schedule of Monthly Meetings may sometimes change due to holidays, elections, and other conflicts. In addition to the Regular Meetings, the Board holds Workshops (work sessions) as needed to study, review and discuss specific issues. No formal action is taken at the Workshops. The Board also may schedule Public Hearings or Special Meetings as needed to discuss specific issues and take action when necessary.

The agendas for the regular meetings are established at least one week in advance and are distributed to media and public entities throughout the county. A full Board Meeting Agenda packet is available in the lobby of the Administration Building for public review. The unofficial minutes of the Meetings are available a few days following the Meetings, with an official copy being available following Board approval.

The positions of Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson change every November when the School Board reorganizes and sets their schedule of meetings for the coming year.
